The Village Museum from Bucharest is situated in the main green area of the capital: the Herestrau Park. The ethnographic museum was founded in 1936 by professor D. Gusti and hosts an impressive collection of Romanian buildings, more than 300 houses, barns, workshops and churches, many of them being hundreds of years old. In many houses, the furniture, ceramics, clothes and other traditional items of the respective age are displayed. Other worth visiting sites are the Horezu pottery workshop, the windmill from Dobrogea and other trade shops.
The ethnographic exhibition displayed in the open shows the traditional Romanian architecture between the 17th and the 20th century. All exhibits are original and representative of each historical region of the country: Transylvania, Moldova, Muntenia, Oltenia, Banat and Dobrogea.
You can see some pictures taken during a sunny spring day on the quiet alleys near the banks of the Herestrau Lake.
